About Louise
Louise (Denorio) DeChico
Louise grew up in the home her father built in Peekskill, NY, surrounded by family, creativity, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. From a young age, she loved to draw, filling her sketchbook with elegant portraits inspired by the women and style of the 1930s.
She later married her husband, John, and together they built a life centered on family, raising three children, Anthony, Marlene, and John.
Louise’s family grew to include eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, a legacy that continues to grow today.
Louise’s favorite poem was In the Bleak Midwinter by Christina Rossetti. She often shared this verse with her grandchildren, a reflection of her strength and heart:
What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what can I give him, my heart.
Nearly a century after she first put pencil to paper, her illustrations have found new life through Lavender Louise — sharing the beauty, imagination, and timeless spirit of her artwork with a new generation.
Live free. Live lavender.
The Heart of Lavender Louise
A piece of Louise. A piece of love. Now shared with you.
Every reproduction is more than just a print; it is a carefully preserved memory, honoring the original spirit of my grandmother’s work. When you bring a Lavender Louise creation into your space, you aren’t just buying art—you’re continuing a story that began in the 1930s.
Made with love,
Claudine Louise
